Tribute to the Founders of the town in 250 BC, Honoré Gilly built in 1965 some Greek style mosaics in the gardens of “La Colline du Chateau – Castle Hill” in Nice on the French Riviera. This awesome work reminds visitors about the story of the City that was formerly called Nikaia, possible reference to a battle won by the Phoeans, Greek colony already settled in Massalia (Marseille) against the Ligurians dwellers.

The Park of Castle Hill is a remarkable and pleasant walk to take if you are spending some time in Nice. Mosaics are colourful, nicely highlighted by the surrounding vegetation. They lead to one of the most beautiful French cemetery, with some unusual tombs to admire. The park spreads on several levels. At mid-height an impressive waterfall freshen up summer atmosphere.
